Your Role on Our Team:

The X-ray/CT Technician is a vital part of a growing Quality Metrology team. This team is responsible for accurate and timely data across the entire array of Milwaukee Tool products. The newest capability within Metrology is X-ray/CT scanning, which has been invaluable in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Our engineers love this new addition, so this has been a high demand resource. We aim to utilize it as much as possible; hours for this position are flexible, however employees are expected to work 40 hours per week.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Generate 2D X-ray images and 3D CT scans to perform non-destructive root cause investigation

  • Communicate with engineers/requestors about their experimental intent

  • Select appropriate scanner settings and fixturing based on written instructions and blueprints

  • Perform post processing analysis on scan data (e.g. metrology, CAD comparison, porosity analysis); ultimately identify if results address the requestors’ needs

  • Record data through 3D visualization software as well as Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Interact with requestors in-person or virtually to effectively present data.

  • Maintain and continually develop X-ray and CT knowledge.

  • Operate lab equipment and gages properly and adhere to all 5S and safety requirements in the work area.

The TOOLS you will need to bring with you:

  • An excitement and interest in X-ray/CT technology, power tools, and mechanical systems

  • Problem-solving skills and technical aptitude (e.g., have you built a computer, done car repairs, DIY remodeling, woodworking, 3D printing, etc.?)

  • Minimum 1 year experience in quality assurance, R&D, manufacturing, or mechanical systems diagnosis/maintenance

  • 3D spatial thinking

  • Understand coordinate systems and degrees of freedom

  • Visualize multiple-part assemblies

  • Experience with 3D view manipulation in software

  • Good computer skills; general windows operations and networks

  • Experience reading engineering drawings or assembly diagrams

  • Experience using gages for dimensional measurement (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gages)

  • Able to react to change effectively in a team setting and handle multiple tasks as assigned

  • Effective oral and written communication with engineering/technical audience

Other TOOLS that are nice to have:

  • Degree or specialized training related to Engineering, Manufacturing, Inspection/Quality

  • Prior experience with 3D Surface Scanning or Industrial X-ray and CT

  • Nondestructive Testing certification (ANST NDT)

  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • CNC machining, CMM programming, or Automation experience

  • 3D modeling and CAD
