The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of all products produced meet agreed upon standards and expectations.

This job description lists major areas of responsibility and additional job activities may be added at any time.

Currently hiring for B Shift: 3pm-1am Monday - Thursday

Please note that the shift above will not go into effect until September 1st, if hired prior to effective date training times will be coordinated with Manager.

The Quality Technician II will demonstrate the ability to always put people and process first to ensure Milwaukee Tool’s unwavering devotion to a robust quality culture. This position is the standard bearer for who we are and the obsession we have with being the market leader in Hand Tools. A Quality Technician III is charged with overseeing the quality, safety, productivity, and training linked within their assigned team. The ability to effectively communicate to the team is crucial to the continued success and development of the personnel and equipment managed. Through resourcing of timely product inspections, and directing of plant quality technicians, the Quality Technician III position is tasked with the short- and long-term success of the Manufacturing Quality Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use a variety of quality inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, hardness testing, UPC scanners and misc lab equipment

  • Operate programs for Quality and Metrology Test Lab equipment, including torque, CMM and Vision System Inspection equipment

  • Initiate Quality System documentation, such as Inspections and Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR’s), edit and update status via computer or tablet in ERP and QMS Systems.

  • Ensure packaging requirements are met by completing daily packaging conformance audits

  • Complete dimensional inspections of incoming raw material

  • Ability to navigate document repository web page to locate inspection reports, blueprints and other quality documents

  • Reporting for Quality or Engineering Builds to support business initiatives

  • Complete tasks for new packaging; includes inspection, documentation, electronic filing, communication of release or failure.

  • Develop and run gage R&R as needed

  • Effectively communicate across shifts and weekend work within team

  • Meeting facilitation for MRB or other groups as needed to communicate findings

  • Training of Quality Technician I and II and support Operator instruction/ training on new procedures or techniques

  • Perform basic shop floor math, such as fraction to decimal conversion, arithmetic and units of measure conversion, basic statistics, analysis of SPC data

  • Problem solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage interruptions is required

  • Consciously abide by all safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment

Education and Experience

  • High School or GED diploma required

  • One (1) year of previous quality technician experience required

  • Understanding of metrology fundamentals, GD&T a plus

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Microsoft Outlook

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to navigate technology such as computer, tablet and printer systems

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to read blueprints
